Home/Trade lanes/Southeast Asia
South China to Southeast Asia
Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines — short sailings, frequent departures, documentation prepared per destination.
Uni-Link arranges FCL and LCL sea freight from Yantian, Shekou, Nansha and Huangpu to Southeast Asia, including Ho Chi Minh, Laem Chabang, Port Klang, Singapore, Jakarta and Manila. These are short-haul lanes with frequent sailings, so the cargo ready date and the terminal cut-off usually matter more than the sailing schedule itself.
Ports we quote most on this lane

| Laem Chabang | Thailand | 5–9 days | Auto parts, electronics, building materials, consumer goods |

| Singapore | Singapore | 4–7 days | Machinery, chemicals in drums (subject to carrier acceptance), project cargo |
| Jakarta (Tanjung Priok), Surabaya | Indonesia | 6–12 days | Machinery, aluminium profiles, homeware, packaging |

FCL or LCL on short-haul lanes
| Shipment size | Usually better as | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Under about 15 cbm | LCL | You pay for the volume used, and sailings are frequent enough that consolidation does not add much time |
| Around 15 cbm and above | FCL | Comparable cost, shorter handling, cargo sealed at the factory |
| Mixed cargo from several suppliers | LCL consolidation | Cargo from different factories is received and loaded under one bill of lading |
| Heavy cargo in a small volume | Check the weight limit first | LCL is charged per cubic metre or per tonne, whichever is greater, so dense cargo can be priced on weight |
Southeast Asia questions
What is the cut-off before sailing?
Typically two to three days before departure for FCL, and earlier for LCL because the container has to be consolidated first. The exact cut-off for your sailing is printed on the booking confirmation.
Can a shipment be consolidated with cargo from another supplier?
Yes. Cargo from several factories can be received at the port, consolidated into one container and shipped under one bill of lading, which is usually how trial orders and mixed orders move.
What if the cargo is not ready on the planned date?
Tell us as soon as you know. On these lanes sailings are frequent, so the container can normally be moved to the next departure with the documents re-dated, and we will confirm the new cut-off.
